8/18 Yukirin at AKB48 Tokyo Dome Concert News Roundup

On August 18th, AKB48 held a concert at Tokyo Dome without any sister groups. It was just an AKB48 only show. But even that, the concert featured 130+ members (including Team 8). The concert also featured songs that have rarely been performed, let alone on a large stage like Tokyo Dome. It was a school themed concert and it started with the members coming out on bicycles. The top members also got to do Unit songs. Yukirin did a duet, 「Aozora no Soba ni ite」, with Mayu.

Just before Team B Oshi, Mayu & Yukirin came out, then Mayu got down on her knee in front of Yukirin and started to say some Romeo & Juliet lines like it was a theatre play.
Yukirin: “This is not a theatre play. Let’s begin!”
Together: “Team B Oshi”
Mayu: “Oh wait, I forgot something at school. I have to go get it.”
Yukirin: “But it’s already so late.”

The two then head to “school” with some scary background music and went to the locker area. Team B oshi then start with the girls appearing from inside the lockers. For the Team B Oshi song, all the girls were in cosplay, Yukirin was Cinderella!

It seems there were many MaYuki moments throughout the concert. The pictures uploaded by the AKB staff certainly say so. During Heavy Rotation, Yukirin took Acchan’s position and did the pairing part with Mayu.

It was announced during the concert that the 47 prefecture tour will finish this year (finally). Team B will be going to Kagoshima on November 22. It will be the first time that Yukirin actually returns to Kagoshima to perform with AKB48. Yukirin has appeared as special guest during the last tour when Oba Team 4 visited Kagoshima.

The touching moment was when Annin appeared and said she really wanted to perform with AKB at Tokyo Dome. They chose a fitting song with 「Arigatou」 (Thank you). Two large banners were also unveil at that moment with the song title, simply saying Thank you to the fans for their support.

Really great to see Yukirin be so central to a concert series (even excluding all the MaYuki moments) it was great to see her take a more central role and if this is how things will be going forward then it could be a really good time to be a Yukirin fan!!! 🙂
